Orchid Species: Pleurothallis galerita

Pleurothallis galerita is an orchid species identified by Luer in 1981.
ORIGIN: Found in Imbabura Ecuador at elevations around 2700 to 2800 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with slender, erect to horizontal ramicauls with a close, tubular sheath on the lower third and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, suberect to spreading, coriaceous, oblong, acute, shortly acuminate, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the fall on a fascile of successively single, few flowered inflorescence arising through and concealed by a spathe and has a thin tubular floral bract.
