Sigmatostalix bicallosa is an orchid species identified by Garay in 1951. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Oncidium bicallosoides.
ORIGIN: Found in the Department of Junin, Peru at elevations around 1500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte in cloud forests on coffee trees at elevations of 1200 to 2100 meters with an ovate-elliptic, compressed pseudobulb with several pairs of basal, distichous, imbricating, leaf bearing sheaths and a single, apical, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate to the short, obliquely bilobed leaf with a conduplicate petiole, that blooms on an axillary, 7 1/5 to [18 cm] long, loosely several [5 to 7], successively flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with a central narrow, triangular bract and floral bracts that are 1/2 the length of the ovary, all occurring in nature in the winter.
