ORIGIN: Found in Valle de Cauca Colombia at elevations around 2600 to 2900 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls with a loose tubular sheath above the middle and 2 to 3 loose, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, erect, elliptical, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on several, simultaneous, more or less secund, 4 to 9.6 [10 to 23 cm] long including the .8 to 1.6 [2 to 4 cm] long peduncle, densely simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a broad, conspicuous spathe from an annulus below the abscission layer with an infundibular floral bract.
