ORIGIN: Found from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Peru as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 1000 to 2150 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Found from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Peru as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte at elevations of 1000 to 2150 meters with stout ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, very thick, leathery, narrowly elliptic to elliptic-oblanceolate, obtuse and retuse apically leaf that has a short, broad petiole that blooms mostly in the summer on a loosely many flowered, to 12 [to 30 cm] long stout inflorescence with funnel-shaped floral bracts and large [for the genus], simultaneously opening flowers that open in the day and close at nights for several days.
