ORIGIN: Found in the Bangladesh, western Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, India, Andaman Islands, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Java, Borneo, Lesser Sunda Islands, Sumatra, Moluccas, New Guinea and the Philippines in bamboo thickets of lowland and hill forests at elevations around 100 to 1200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large to giant sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 7, elliptic, plicate, 5 to 9 veined, long acuminate apically, narrowed below into the short, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal to less often laterally, often 2 to 3 at a time, 1/2 to 1.6 [1.2 to 3.8 cm] long, densely subglobose inflorescence with non-resupinate flowers and floral bracts that are twice as long as the ovary.
