Controlled creativity should dominate your efforts; place the larger plants in the center, that takes care of the element of size; as for shapes, they must be aesthetically juxtaposed; for composition what governs placement of the plants are the geometrical elements of the triangular, the square, the circular, the diamond, the diagonal; then there are lines to consider: horizontal suggests stability, diagonal suggests dynamic; position poses the question of whether something should be placed dead center or off-center; density is a subconscious problem; texture means should it be rough or smooth; pattern asks if it should be unity in disarray; while balance suggets symmetry or not symmetry; then there are the colors, the fact that reds are more evident, and some colors are compatible and others not.
