ORIGIN: Found in Ireland, Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Netherlands, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, Poland, Belarus, all of Russia and western Siberia in alpine peat bogs at elevations up to 2100 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial found in lime rich soil with 2 to 4 lobed tubers with a short to long stem carrying 4 to 7 linear to oblong-lanceolate, almost erect, spotted or plain leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a terminal, erect, 1.2 to 4 [3 to 10 cm] long, cylindrical, lax, racemose inflorescence that has bracts that are longer than the flowers.
