MITES, RED SPIDER: Control in Cymbidiums Also know as two-spotted mite; in cool weather the adults change to the "carmine form"; first signs come usually in spring; during winter they seek shelter; controls: space the plants well apart; spray in spring and every 21 to 28 days until plants are close to flowering. MITES, RED SPIDER: Cymbidium's Worst Pest It produces small white spots on undersides of leaves, they spread from leaves to flowers; are less active outdoors; water sprays indoors only keep them down temporarily; they can increase in great numbers very quickly; control with Pentac or Kelthane,- if in flower or bud use a wettable powder with a wetting agent.
