The name of a varietal form is placed after that of the species or hybrid; a botanical variety is preceded by the word variety or its abbreviation var.; example: Dendrobium fimbriatum var. occulatum; a horticulture variety is indicated by the name set off in single quote marks; example: Cymbidium Alexanderi 'Westonbirt'.
