DESCRIPTION: A small to large sized, cool growing terrestrial orchid that is found in the eastern Aegean Islands Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Crimea, Lebanon Syria, Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Iran in short grasslands, garrigue and abandoned cultivation, scrub and open woodlands at elevations up to 1400 meters with a thick, grooved, stem carrying near erect, basal, unmarked, shiny, broadly lanceolate leaves and 1 to 4 upper, smaller leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on a terminal, cylindrical, 2 to 20 [5 to 40 cm] long, dense to loosely many flowered inflorescence carrying weakly scented of vanilla flowers.
