ORIGIN: Found in the western Himalayas, Nepal, eastern Himalayas, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Xizang China, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam in shady locations in forests along valleys at elevations of 500 to 3300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with no obvious pseudobulb or rhizome with pseudostems carrying 3 to 4, ensiform to lorate, plicate, 3 veined, glabrous, elongate, acute, narrowing below into the elongate or not, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an axillary, erect, thick, densely pubescent, to 48 [120 cm] long, racemose, many flowered inflorescence with persistent, herbaceous, retroflexed, narrowly lanceolate, almost as long as the ovary floral bracts.
