ORIGIN: Found in Japan, the Ryukyus, Taiwan, Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, Sikkim, western Himalayas, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan and Xizang China and Vietnam in hot tropical valleys among grasses and at bases of rocks or in riverine forests at elevations of 660 to 2100 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial orchid with a woody rhizome giving rise to slender, cylindric, tapering pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 3, strongly veined, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, acuminate, petiolate base leaves and blooms in the late spring and early summer on a erect, terminal, racemose to sub-corymbose, successively many flowered inflorescence basally sheathed by distant, lanceolate, acute, pilose pubescent sheaths and spreading to reflexed, ovate, lanceolate, acuminate, floral bracts.
