ORIGIN: Assam India, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Hainan provinces of China, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam at elevations of 400 to 1300 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Found as a miniature to small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with erect, clustered, thickened upwards from a slender base, almost spindle-shaped, angled stems carrying a solitary, oblong, leathery, obtuse, leaf that blooms in the winter and spring with fragrant flowers on an axillary, 5 to 15 flowered, often penadant raceme that arise from nodes at the middle of the leafed or leafless cane. This species and the subspecies var jenkinsii need a cool dry winter rest to ensure a spring blooming.
