ORIGIN: Found in Nigeria, Burundi, Cameroon, Rwanda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Natal and Transvaal South Africa and Madagascar in shady evergreen forests, Bamboo forests and in ravines at elevations of 850 to 3000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Glabrous, slender, miniature to small sized, warm to cold growing semi-terrestrial with 2 small, oblong to rounded tubers giving rise to a stem sheathed by several brownish sheaths and carrying 2, cauline, opposite, sessile, widely ovate, acute, very rounded basally, veined leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, 1 to 5 flowered inflorescence with leaf-like bracts.
