ORIGIN: Found in Michoacan state of Mexico in riparian forests at elevations of 1000 to 1300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with conic-ovoid, longitudinally rugose, green suffused with purple pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, ensiform, obtuse, coriaceous-fleshy, green suffused with purple, sulcate above, carinate below leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on a terminal, erect to arcuate, racemose or laxly paniculate, to 3 branched, each branch 4.4 to 9.6 [11 to 24 cm] long, peduncle terete, smooth, to [24 to 62 cm] long, rachis obscurely papillose, overall 16 to 31.4 [40 to 112 cm] long, 5 to 36 flowered inflorescence with tubular or amplexicaul, ovate, obtuse, tight bracts and widely triangular-ovate, obtuse, concave, scarious floral bracts.
