ORIGIN: Found in central Peru at elevations of 1940 to 3000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Giant sized, cold growing epiphyte with simple, cane-like, erect, thick stems carrying all along the apical 2/3's of the stem, 11 to 15, spreading, alternate, distichous, articulate, coriaceous, narrowly lanceolate, acute, minutely apiculate, margin entire leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, paniculate, heavy, arching-nutant, peduncle to 2 [5 cm] long,terete, thick, rachis to 11.2 [23 cm] long, nearly totaly hidden by the flowers, paniculate, nearly simultaneous many flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, linear-triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying up to 46 flowers on the main spike and about 6 each on the lateral branches each flower with the sepals and petals pale green, most dorsally dark purple, lip pale green, the disc surrounded towards the margin by purple dots along the veins, dorsally pale greenish somewhat dotted purple along the center, column greenish tinged purple towards the apex.
