ORIGIN: Found in Cundinamarca Colombia on the cordillera Oriental in cloud forests at elevations of 3000 to 3520 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing lithopyte with simple, cane-like, basally terete, somewhat laterally compressed towrds the apex, erect, straight, basally enveloped by non-foliar, tubular, scarious sheaths and carrying 3 to 5, suberect, alternate, articulate, coriaceous, unequal, lower one smaller, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, margin entire leaves that blooms in the late summer through earlier winter on a terminal, erect, racemose to basally single, short, few flowered branch, arching nutant, peduncle to .68 to 1.2 [1.7 to 3 cm] long, thin, laterally compressed, rachis 3.72 to 6 [9.3 to 15 cm] long, laterally compressed, reddish orange to dark purple depending on age, laxly, simultaneously to 10 flowered inflorescence arising through a basally tubular, conduplicate in the apical half, acute, amplexicaul, scarious spathe and with small, much shorter than the ovary, linear-triangular, acuminate, clasping floral bracts and carrying resupinate, brown-orange, nonfragrant flowers with the base of the pelas and the lip yellow and the column greenish tinted brown.
