ORIGIN: Found in northernmost Ecuador on the wesrtern slope of the Andes in montane cloud forests at elevations around 2300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Giant sized, cold growing terrestrial with erect, branching with age, cane-like, terete stems carrying numerous, all along the stem, branches mostly 5 to 6, unequal in size, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, acute, margin finely erose-denticulate leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, racemose, without a spathe, on a mature stem, occurring only once, erect, flexuous, 3.2 to 5.2 [8 to 13 cm] long, simultaneously 5 to 7 flowered inflorescence with shorter to equal to the length of the ovary, progressively shorter above, cucullate, avate, margin undulate, finely erose floral bracts and carrying non resupinate, yellowish green flowers.
