ORIGIN: Found in Peru on both sides of the Andes at elevations of 2300 to 3400 meter.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with cane-like, terete, erect, straight, branching subapically when mature stems carrying numerous, throughout the stems, sub-erect, alternate, articulate, coriaceous, green, margins purple-black, oblong, rounded apically, slightly bilobed leaves that blooms in the late spring through winter on an apical, terete, thin, racemose, occurring only once, arching-nutant, densely many [15 to 17] flowered inflorescense carrying resupinate, simultaneously opening, fleshy flowers.
