ORIGIN: Found in Oaxaca state of Mexico in mixed humid forests at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to large sized, cool growing epiphyte with simple, terete, cane-like stems enveloped by thin scarious older leafless and leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 2 to 12, towards the apex, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, acute, basally clasping and articulate to the leaf bearing sheaths that blooms in the fall, winter and early spring on a terminal, occurs over several years from the same peduncle, arcuate, with one to several racemes, 1.6 to 4.8 [4 to 12 cm] long, dense, simultaneously 10 to 25 flowered inflorescence with 2 to 5, basal, imbricating, oblong-triangular, tubular, larger than the much shorter than the ovary, free, triangular, attenuate floral bracts and carrying resupinate, fleshy flowers.
