ORIGIN: Found in central Ecuador on the northern side of Mt Tunguragua on the eastern slope of the Andes at elevations of 1800 to 2200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Giant sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with simple, cane-like, erect, laterally compressed above stems carrying numerous, all along the stem, alternate, coriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, narrow, unequally bilobed, margin entire leaves that blooms in the late fall on a terminal, with a prominent, conduplicate, acute spathe, on a mature stem, peduncle enveloped completely by the spathe, laterally compressed, 2.4” [6 cm] long, paniculate, arching, 15.6” [39 cm] long overall, simultaneously about 150 flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the ovary, minute, triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying resupinate yellowish green flowers.
