ORIGIN: Found in Colombia on the Cordillera Central south of the Nevado de Tolima at elevations of 3200 to 3500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cold growing terrestrial with erect, branching from the apical internodes of the previous stem, cane-like, terete, thin straight stems carrying 5 to 7, all along the apical half of the stem, erect, distichous, coriaceous, narrowly lanceolate, bilobed to unequally bilobed, minute dorsal keel, margin entire leaves taht blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, racemose, occurring only once, .8” [2 cm] long overall, peduncle thin, short, bractless, rachis terete, thin, straight, simultaneously 10 to 12 flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary, narrowly triangular, acuminate floral bracts and carrying resupinate, pinkish red flowers with the apex of the column green.
