DESCRIPTION: Found as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial occurring along streams in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica in wet montane forests at altitudes of 900 to 2000 meters with an elongate, erect, cane-like stem enveloped by basally clasping, tubular, scarious sheaths and carrying, in the apical portion, several, distichous, articulate and conduplicate to the sheaths, linear-lanceolate leaves that blooms from spring through fall on a terminal, erect to arcuate, 4 [10 cm] long, several to many flowered, paniculate, successively flowering inflorescence.
