ORIGIN: Found in Colombia and Venezuela in upper level cloud forests at elevations of 2500 to 3500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial orchid with ovate, tapering apically, laterally compressed, ancipitous, longitudinally ridged and grooved with age pseudobulbs partially enveloped basally by 2 to 3 pairs of distichous, imbricating, conduplicate, leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 2 to 3 apical, erect to slightly spreading, narrowly lanceolate, acute, dark green, narrowing below into a conduplicate, long, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on basal, erect, to 59 [150 cm] long, peduncle to 39 [100 cm] long, pyramidically paniculate, to 20 [50 cm] long, many [to 150] flowered inflorescence arising from the leaf axils of a mature pseudobulb and carries several, slightly fractiflex, widely spread branches with 5 to 8, nonfragrant flowers.
