ORIGIN: Found in western Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Japan, Ryukyu Islands, Korea and Taiwan at elevations of 400 to 2700 meters in dense, wet montane or subalpine forests.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with a long creeping stem like rhizome giving rise to an erect, leafy stem carrying obliquely ovate to elliptic-ovate, acute to obtuse, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on a terminal, to 3.8 [to 9 cm] long, densely several flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate, convex, exceeding the ovary and often the flower floral bracts.
