ORIGIN: Found on Anguilla, St Martin, St Barthelemy and now on St Eustatius Islands in the Caribbean. There the plants are found on the northern hills of the island on rocky cliff faces, in very dry, sunny and windy locations at elevations of 100 to 200 meters. Elsewhere the plants are found in low scrub in coastal areas at elevations of sea level to 100 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large to giant sized, hot growing lithophyte or very occasional epiphyte with crowded, narrowly oblong, distally attenuate, transversely 2 to 3 ringed pseudobulbs carrying two, oblong-ligulate, acute, coriaceous, rigid, serrulate margined leaves that blooms from the summer through winter on a slender, to 3' 4 [1 meter] long, few branches, densely many flowered inflorescence almost completely covered by imbricating, sheaths and having successively opening flowers that last over several months.
