Orchid Species: Trichocentrum candidum

Trichocentrum candidum is an orchid species identified by Lindl. in 1843.
ORIGIN: Found in Mexico, Guatemala and to Costa Rica on tree trunks in humid montane forests in deep shade as a miniature, hot to warm growing epiphyte from tropical rainforests at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Found in Mexico, Guatemala and to Costa Rica on tree trunks in humid montane forests in deep shade as a miniature, hot to warm growing epiphyte from tropical rainforests at elevations of 800 to 1000 meters with inconspicuous pseudobulbs concealed by leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying a single, fleshy, elliptic-oblong, acute, conduplicate below into the base leaf which blooms on a lateral, pendulous, 1 3/5 [4 cm] long, 2 to 4 successively flowering, racemose inflorescence with the flower held at leaf length occurring in the summer to late fall. This plant is best mounted on branches tree fern or cork to accomodate the pendulous growth and flowering habit.
